How close Neede is

How close Neede is

From our front door on the Haaksbergseweg, it is about an eight-minute drive to the centre of Neede. By bike it takes around twenty minutes, a little less on an e-bike. Neede and Eibergen are both part of the municipality of Berkelland. Setting off after breakfast and returning in the afternoon is therefore easily done. Your car is parked free of charge on our own grounds. If you come by bike, it stays dry in the bike storage and you can charge your e-bike with us. We do not rent out bikes, so please bring your own. Everything for cyclists can be found on our page for cycling guests.

The Needse Berg: tower and windmill

The Needse Berg: tower and windmill

For a view in Neede, head to the Needse Berg. The nature observation tower is 16 metres high and opened in 2018, marking the centenary of VVV Neede. In clear weather you can see across the Achterhoek as far as Twente and over the German border. At the top is a poem for Willem Sluiter, the poet who first used the name Achterhoek. On the Diepenheimseweg stands De Hollandsche Molen, a corn mill from 1926 that is still in working order. Admission is free and volunteers are happy to show you around. According to the VVV, the mill is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and also whenever the sails are turning.

With children to the Ordelmanskoele

Just outside Neede, in the woods, lies the Ordelmanskoele: a natural playground in an old quarry. Children climb and scramble over a course and follow the signs of Woudy the Elephant. It is a half-day outing that fits nicely into a weekend in the area. In the evening you are quickly back in your room in Eibergen.

In the village: Grote Kerk, Huize De Kamp and the Tuesday market

In the heart of Neede, the Gothic Grote Kerk stands on the Kerkplein. The church was originally dedicated to Saint Cecilia and belonged to the diocese of Münster. In 1616, through the intervention of Prince Maurice, it passed into Reformed hands. South of the village, on the Peppelendijk, lies Huize De Kamp. It is a national monument: built in 1636 for Otto Gansneb and extensively rebuilt in 1789. The estate once fell under the lordship of Borculo. Are you in the area on a Tuesday? Then there is a weekly market on the Vlearmoesplein from 8:00 to 12:00.

Late August: the National Jam Market

Late August: the National Jam Market

Once a year, in late August, Neede is all about the National Jam Market. Professional and amateur makers sell jam, marmalade and chutney, and a Jam Queen is crowned. The date for 2027 has not yet been announced. If you would like to be there and stay nearby, check our rooms and prices in good time, from the Standard Room to the Sauna Suite.
